I am very proud to introduce myself as the founding Principal of Te Matauru Primary.
Being involved with the school from day one has been a very special privilege and a highlight of my career to date.
I am now in my 14th year of school Principalship (mainly in the North Island), and bring additional experience in consultancy, Principal appraisal, coaching and mentoring, and leadership of Principal organisations and reference groups.
My extended family are based in Nelson, where I grew up, and my wife, who is also a teacher at another local school, has her family base in this area. We are enjoying living in Rangiora and are actively involved in the wider community. We live in the Te Matauru zone and value a close connection to our school families.
Te Matauru Primary is a special school with a strong focus on the Learner at the Centre. Most days you will find me on the school gate in the morning, and on the walking school bus after school. I like to be involved with our students and to know them individually.
Currently we have 115 students with predicted growth towards 700 students over time. To help us manage this growth strategically we are not accepting out of zone enrolments. This approach allows us to develop a personalised small school culture ahead of growth in the years ahead.
If you would like to learn more about Te Matauru Primary, please feel free to join one of our termly School Tours to see our learning in action, or else contact me directly to arrange a meeting.
