Te Matauru Primary is a new full Primary school opening in Rangiora at the start of the 2020 school year. I am extremely proud to be the school’s Foundation Principal and look forward to leading the development of the school’s vision and practices over the next few years.
My background is as a school Principal for 12 years in the North Island followed by a stint as a leadership advisor to Beginning Principals in the Bay of Plenty. My wife is an experienced primary and early childhood teacher and education is of great importance to us as a family. Following our time up north we are pleased to now be living in North Canterbury where we have a strong network of family and friends.
The Foundation Board adopted the 7 Principles for Learning as the school’s basis and the work of the leading and teaching team is to make this a reality. Periodically either myself or a member of the school leadership team comment on how we are bringing this to life through posts on our school blog.
We are excited to be part of the Rangiora education network. I believe Te Matauru can enhance our community and provide opportunities for our learners that allow them to reach their full potential – Ekea Ka Taumata Ki Te Uru – “look to the peaks of the alps and ascend to great heights”.
